Browsing the menu
The menu you see is organized the way the restaurant set it up, usually by category: starters, mains, drinks, desserts.
Why the menu can change during the day
Restaurants can limit a category to specific hours or specific days, a breakfast category that only shows up in the morning, a late-night menu that only appears after 10pm. If you don’t see something you expected, it’s worth checking back at a different time rather than assuming it’s gone from the menu entirely.
Variants
Some items have options underneath them, a size, a temperature, a side to choose. Tapping one of these opens a small selection screen before it’s added to your order. Each option can change the price, and the price shown updates to match what you picked.
Build-your-own and set-menu items
Some items ask for several choices at once, a lunch special with a protein, a side, and a drink, or a bowl where you pick a base and a few toppings. Tapping the item opens a screen with each decision laid out as its own short list. Some are required, some optional, and the running price updates as you go, so you can see what a premium option adds before committing to it. You can’t add the item until every required choice is made.
Dietary and other labels
Restaurants can tag items with labels (vegetarian, gluten-free, and similar) where they’ve set that up. Not every restaurant uses labels, so their absence doesn’t necessarily mean anything either way, when in doubt, ask your waiter.
